Summary
This presentation offers a practical overview of the role of the dental hygienist in the initial management of periodontal diseases. It begins with a structured approach to periodontal examination, highlighting the key clinical and radiographic parameters essential for understanding the periodontal condition and supporting the diagnostic process.
The current classification of periodontal diseases is then presented, with particular emphasis on the staging and grading of periodontitis and their relevance to the dental hygienist’s daily clinical practice.
